The Ministry of Climate is continuing negotiations with the European Commission regarding the conditions for offshore wind farm auctions and is also mapping EU support opportunities to ensure the most favorable conditions for consumers. At the same time, the ministry is proceeding with preparations for onshore wind farm auctions.
“The government’s goal is to secure the most affordable electricity prices for consumers. The European Commission’s initiatives provide a more favorable development framework with the new plan. That is why I have proposed to the government that we wait for the European Clean Industry Deal, which will likely influence the conditions for state aid approval. Energy security is also a part of overall security, and sustainable energy has become a European priority. Energy security is an increasingly important topic in Europe, and the initiative to be announced at the end of the month will likely positively impact our plans—it would be unwise to overlook these opportunities,” said Minister of Climate Yoko Alender.
According to the Ministry of Climate, offshore wind farms can still be developed according to the current schedule, with completion expected by the end of 2033.
“It is essential to proceed step by step, in the right order, and in a way that makes the most sense for society. Based on our analyses, we know that a diverse energy mix provides the best possible price. That is why my proposal is to move forward with wind, nuclear, and storage solutions. Given the security situation and the need to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness, we must utilize all available EU opportunities and initiatives,” the minister concluded.
