On Monday, November 4, at the general meeting of the Estonian Wind Power Association, a new five-member board was elected. The board members are Juhan Aguraiuja (Chairman of the Board of Enefit Green), Rene Tammist (Chairman of the Board of Utilitas Wind), Tanel Kutsar (Chairman of the Board of Connecto Estonia), Kuido Kartau (Chairman of the Board of Saare Wind Energy), and Timo Tatar (CEO of Ignitis Estonia).
“The new board provides a clear, unified voice for steering wind energy in Estonia. There are many significant processes underway and upcoming that require dedication and the skill to find suitable solutions for all parties involved. Many thanks to the previous board and best wishes to the new board in realizing Estonia’s vast wind energy potential,” said Terje Talv, Executive Director of the association.
The Estonian government’s goal for the next decade is to direct €4–5 billion in investments into the wind energy sector. These substantial investments will boost the economy, enhance energy security, reduce the environmental impact of energy production, and help provide more affordable prices to consumers. Additionally, these investments will help create and develop jobs for highly qualified specialists, who are in high demand in the energy sector. However, to realize large-scale investments, a favorable and stable investment environment, clear conditions, and supportive regulations for the sector are essential. The Estonian Wind Power Association is ready to be a partner to the government and society to achieve these ambitious goals.
The Estonian Wind Power Association (EWPA), established on September 21, 2001, is dedicated to the development of wind energy and its technologies, creating favorable conditions to support the competitiveness of wind energy and ensuring the preservation of a cleaner living environment through the broader adoption of renewable energy. The association has 30 domestic and international member companies.
